As we near the halfway point of the games, some clear front running countries have emerged...
Hungary: The Unsung Underdogs?
-As I write this post, defending Hungary fencing champ Áron Szilágyi just earned himself another gold medal- against the US, mind you! With all that I have written about this small European country, may I ask- have we found ourselves the ultimate underdog story of these Olympic Games?
More Rugby Madness with Men!
-As if the women's rugby tournament wasn't crazy, the men's rugby tournament provided more wild thrills as Great Britain and Argentina flagged and fought each other. Great Britain's team, attempting to make what can be described as being equivalent to a field goal, failed when the ball bounced off the posts. However, they would make up for it later, scoring a try (which is like a touchdown) in extra time, winning the game 5-0.
A funny Chinese interview
-When Fu Yuanhui, a swimmer from China, was told that she had earned a bronze medal in the 100 meter backstroke because of a tie (you can read more about that in my day six post) when she initially thought she hadn't earned one, her reaction was one of pure hilarity. You can see her reaction below, courtesy of the fine Chinese broadcasters of these Olympics at CCTV and the YouTube channel Movie4ever.
So until tomorrow, goodnight from ROMVIEWS.WEEBLY.COM- your Olympic blog headquarters!
