In the aftermath of Lochtegate, some more interesting stories have popped up!
The first Doper -Well, it took 16 days, but someone was finally caught doping at these Olympic Games. Izzat Artykov, who had received a bronze medal in the 69-kilogram men's weightlifting competition, had it stripped because of banned substance usage. This wasn't the last doping case during these games, as if you do a quick Google search for "doping Rio 2016", it turns up much more results.
The Apologies -It didn't take long for someone to listen to what I had said in a earlier draft of my rant, as both Ryan Lochte and the USOC, along with three other swimmers involved in the drunk bathroom vandalism and robbery story cover up apologized for said actions. This doesn't make us look good, and I think plenty of endorsement deals are about to go down the drain for those swimmers...
Germany beats Sweden by an own goal -All it took for the German women's team to earn a football medal was an own goal by Sweden. Much like like happened to the British team in last year's World Cup finals, this will be embarrassing in many ways. The final score was 2-1, with Germany winning. I certainly hope that the player that made that own goal won't get negative comments sent towards her..
Well, tomorrow will see the dramatic final in Men's football between Germany and Brazil to see whether or not Germany will sweep, or if Brazil will finally earn their long awaited Olympic gold at home. Until then, goodnight from ROMVIEWS.WEEBLY.COM, your Olympic blog headquarters!
